Where do you turn to find strength (power) when you realize that it is time for renewal? Listen to the words of Isaiah:

   Carried by the Father

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31, ESV)

Strength (Power) to Continue

I have had the privilege (on more than one occasion) to watch an eagle fly. Yes, the bird would flap those majestic wings to gain altitude. Then, once the desired height was reached, the bird would begin to soar. At certain intervals, it would swoop down and catch an updraft to rise even higher. For extended periods of time the wings would seem motionless. It looked absolutely effortless.

Many years ago my daily routine included running. In fact, when I was thirty my efforts included participating in a mini-marathon (13.1 miles). Believe me when I tell you that it required much training and effort. Also, I would be dishonest if I did not tell you that I did grow weary as early as the halfway point.

Moreover, there have also been times when the burdens were so great that it was a major effort to get out of bed, far less go anywhere that required walking. Trudging along, placing one foot in front of the other, was a major accomplishment.

Isn’t it refreshing to know that “to him who has no might he increases strength.” The eagle needs little help soaring (though God is there). “Young” folks seem to run all day long with little need of rest, but they do grow weary at times. However, there are times when we all need extensive help just to make it through another day. That is when God’s Spirit works to bring renewal to those who are willing to call upon and wait for the LORD.

Finally, there are times that we are totally powerless.  That is when the Father carries us to safety.  This is portrayed in the image above. I love the poem “Footprints in the Sand.”  https://www.onlythebible.com/Poems/Footprints-in-the-Sand-Poem.html

“When Astonishment Turns to Singing: A Prayer”

     Holy Spirit:
        With astonishment,
            we see that you renew our strength
        Allow us not to forget
            your presence,
            Even in adversity.
            in our turn,
            we will renew our gratefulness
            and we will sing
            for your love.
